Lord help me to sharpen my sword
so it may cut in two
each enemy I do battle
charging to run them through
____
Your scripture feeds my hungry soul
but my mind is so weak
I’m asking You Lord for wisdom
wisdom with which to speak
____
I’m willing to study to learn
retain such wealth in mind
I pray You will help me master
sword fighting of this kind
____
how can the enemy stand firm
from power of the sword
all demons are subject to it
they cower at God’s word
____
no evil from hell can withstand
an onslaught of this might
for Satan knows the power it has
he’s useless in this fight
____
Lord Your mighty sword is able
to crush the enemy
I pray that I would be worthy
to be where I should be
____
and when I die in some battle
my time on earth is done
far greater is the war at hand
someday it shall be won
